43-year-old dollar van driver charged for inappropriate touching of minor

By Belize Live News Staff: A 43-year-old taxi driver has been formally arrested and charged with sexual assault following a report made by a minor and her mother on Saturday, November 22. Wenseslao Veilz, a resident of Mahogany Street, stands accused of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old female passenger inside his “dollar van.”

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday afternoon. The minor told police she boarded a grey dollar van in front of the “New 2 U” store on Cemetery Road. She described the driver as a heavy-built, Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, notably having a blonde mohawk hairstyle.

According to the police report, after the driver dropped off all other passengers, he allegedly drove the minor to a secluded feeder road located between miles two and three on the George Price Highway. While inside the van, the driver is accused of inappropriately touching the girl’s leg.

A medical examination was conducted on the minor at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where a doctor certified her injuries as “harm.” Police subsequently apprehended Veilz, who has been formally charged for the crime of Sexual Assault. The investigation is ongoing, and Veilz is expected to appear in court shortly.
