Driver admits fault in early morning highway crash

By Belize Live News Staff: A teenager from Valley Community is facing several traffic-related charges after a collision along Mile 21 on the Hummingbird Highway.

The incident happened on November 12th, 2025, when the 17-year-old allegedly exited a dirt road and drove onto the highway, colliding with a Ministry of Rural Transformation Isuzu D-Max that was heading toward Belmopan.

Police reported that the teen was driving an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle and did not possess a valid Belize driver’s license at the time of the crash.

He was arrested in the presence of his father and later charged with driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, driving without a driver’s license, using a vehicle not covered by third-party insurance, driving without due care and attention, and failing to give way on a major road.

The investigation is ongoing as officers continue to compile details for the case.
