Authorities warn Belizeans about fake AI-generated investment video

By Belize Live News Staff: Authorities are warning Belizeans to be cautious after a fake, AI-generated video began circulating on social media, urging people to “invest” money for a quick financial return.

The misleading video, which is in Spanish, uses the likeness of well-known Belizean figures to appear authentic. However, officials have confirmed that it is not real and that none of the individuals featured are involved in the promotion.

“This is a scam,” the advisory stated, warning that artificial intelligence is now being used to create highly realistic videos that can deceive unsuspecting viewers.

Belizeans are strongly urged not to share personal or financial information online and to verify the authenticity of any investment offers. With AI-generated misinformation becoming more common, authorities say vigilance is the best defense.
