Belize marks World Food Day with signing of key agreements for sustainable agriculture

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize joined the international community in celebrating World Food Day at Georgetown Technical High School under the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods & a Better Future.” The national observance highlighted the importance of unity, innovation, and resilience in the country’s efforts to secure a sustainable agricultural future.

The event included cultural performances, addresses from key agricultural leaders, and the official signing of four major agreements under the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture Project (CRESAP).

CRESAP, implemented by the Belize Social Investment Fund (BSIF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) and funded by the World Bank, is designed to strengthen Belize’s ability to adapt to climate change while improving productivity and food security.

The signed agreements represent a significant milestone in advancing climate-smart farming, infrastructure development, and farmer support programs. By investing in sustainable practices and rural empowerment, Belize continues to take proactive steps toward building a resilient agricultural sector, ensuring that every hand contributes to a healthier and more food-secure future for the nation.
