Belize and Taiwan honor friendship at Double Ten Celebration; Dr. Candice Pitts recognized

By Belize Live News Staff: This past week, Taiwan’s Embassy in Belize hosted its annual Double Ten Day reception, marking the 114th anniversary of Taiwan’s National Day, a celebration of democracy, history, and unity.

The elegant evening brought together government officials, diplomats, and friends of Taiwan to honor the deep and enduring partnership between Belize and the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Her Excellency Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, reaffirmed the strength of the relationship between the two nations, describing it as one built on mutual respect and shared values.

“When we are partners, we work with each other, we help each other,” Ambassador Hsu said. “Belize always speaks up for Taiwan in the international arena because Belize stands for principle. Although not a big country, Belize speaks loud and clear for Taiwan.”

The ambassador highlighted Taiwan’s ongoing development cooperation in Belize through technical missions and joint projects focused on agriculture, education, and sustainable growth.

The event also featured a special recognition ceremony for Dr. Candice Pitts, Belize’s former ambassador to Taiwan, who received the prestigious Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon for her exceptional diplomatic service in strengthening ties between the two countries.

Pitts expressed gratitude, saying, “This recognition is a testament to the strong friendship between Belize and Taiwan and the collaborative work we’ve done in education, culture, tourism, and trade.”

The evening reflected not only Taiwan’s enduring spirit but also the genuine bond between two nations that continue to stand side by side on the global stage.
