Met Service: Expect more rain, thunderstorms, and rough seas

By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Weather Service reports that a trough of low pressure moving across the Yucatán Peninsula continues to bring unstable conditions to Belize, resulting in cloudy skies, heavy rainfall, and isolated thunderstorms.

Showers and storms are expected to persist throughout Tuesday and into the night, with the most significant activity concentrated over central and northern Belize. Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas are being advised to remain vigilant, as saturated soils and ongoing rain could result in localized flooding.

The National Met Service has issued a Small Craft Caution due to rough seas and gusty winds near thunderstorms. Waves are expected to reach between 4 and 7 feet, and mariners are encouraged to stay updated on sea conditions.

Temperatures are expected to remain cool, with highs of 84°F (29°C) on the coast, 86°F (30°C) inland, and 78°F (26°C) in the hills.

In its latest tropical weather outlook, forecasters noted that the system over the Yucatán may strengthen slightly as it moves into the Bay of Campeche, but it poses no direct threat to Belize. Another low-pressure system, AL95, east of the Windward Islands, also shows a high chance of development but remains far from the region.

The weather outlook for Wednesday calls for continued cloudy skies, with showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain expected across most areas.
