By Belize Live News Staff: Two senior Belizean officials are representing the country at CTU/ICT Week 2025 in Kingston, Jamaica, where regional leaders and technology experts are meeting to advance Caribbean digital transformation under the theme “Driving Change, Connecting Futures.”
Dr. Leroy Almendarez, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy and Logistics, and Dr. Marsha Price, Postmaster General of the Belize Postal Service, joined ministers, ICT regulators, and industry professionals from across the region to discuss emerging trends such as artificial intelligence, 5G, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity.
The Belize delegation engaged in several high-level discussions focusing on the region’s capacity to adapt to technological innovation and improve competitiveness. A key meeting was held with Mr. Lati Mata of the Universal Postal Union, where opportunities for modernizing Belize’s postal technology systems were explored in light of evolving global trade and logistics demands.
Bilateral talks were also held with Jamaica’s Minister of Science, Energy, Telecommunications and Transport, Daryl Vaz, as well as with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), to strengthen cooperation in areas of energy efficiency, ICT infrastructure, and institutional modernization.
