By Belize Live News Staff: Coney Drive was rattled by rapid gunfire this morning as reputed gang figure Jahreem “32” Staine came under heavy attack. Witnesses reported hearing close to 30 shots, and police later confirmed recovering 28 spent shells from the scene.
Staine emerged from the hail of bullets without injury. Officers say he was the clear target of the shooters, though the motive has not yet been released.
Staine, identified as the leader of the Backa Lands Crips (BLC), has been a central figure in Belize City’s gang landscape. His latest brush with violence comes just months after he was charged with attempted murder alongside Eric Frazer. That case stems from the May 3rd shooting of Jimmy Rojas, who himself survived after being sprayed with bullets while at work.
Police are now tightening surveillance in the area as tensions threaten to spill over. Police investigations remain ongoing.
