Mostly sunny skies today; showers expected in the south tonight

Sunday weather in Belize: Fair skies and warm sunshine expected

By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize reports that a moderate easterly airflow will dominate weather conditions today.

For the next 24 hours, skies will be mostly sunny across the country. Tonight, skies will become partly cloudy to cloudy, with showers expected to remain isolated except in the south where a few showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast.

Marine conditions are expected to be choppy, with winds blowing from the east to southeast at 10 to 20 knots and waves ranging between 3 to 5 feet.

Temperatures across the country remain hot, with highs reaching 95°F (35°C) inland, 89°F (32°C) along the coast, and 84°F (29°C) in the hills. Overnight lows will fall to 74°F (23°C) inland, 83°F (28°C) along the coast, and 68°F (20°C) in the hills.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Fernand was located near latitude 29.7N, longitude 60.7W, or about 300 miles southeast of Bermuda, moving north-northeast at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. This system poses no threat to Belize.

Meanwhile, a tropical wave about 200 miles east of the Windward Islands is producing showers and thunderstorms. It has a medium chance of development as it moves westward, but also poses no immediate threat to Belize.

The outlook for Monday and Monday night is for cloudy skies with outbreaks of showers and a few thunderstorms across most areas, associated with the passage of a tropical wave.

High tide today is at 10:32 a.m. and again at 11:04 p.m., while low tide will occur at 5:15 p.m. Tomorrow’s first low tide is at 5:10 a.m. Sunrise today was at 5:37 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:12 p.m. The moon will rise at 6:45 a.m. and set at 7:15 p.m.
