A calm Monday in Belize, but keep an eye on what’s coming

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect another mostly sunny Monday, but don’t get too comfortable—changes are on the horizon.

The National Met Service says fair weather is holding steady for now, with only isolated showers throughout today. But by tonight, clouds will start rolling in, bringing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, especially in the south and along the coast.

It’s all part of the effects of an approaching tropical wave, expected to increase rainfall chances over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Sea conditions remain calm, with east winds at 5 to 10 knots and wave heights between 1 to 3 feet. High temperatures today will soar to the mid-90s inland, and dip to the low 70s by nightfall.

There’s no need to worry about Tropical Storm Dexter, which remains far from Belize, northwest of Bermuda.

However, forecasters are advising residents, especially in flood-prone areas, to stay informed as the tropical wave moves closer.
