By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service reports that mainly fair weather conditions are expected across Belize today, with sunny skies and only a few cloudy spells throughout the day. While most of the country will remain dry, isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop later this afternoon, particularly over the Maya Mountains.
Winds will blow from the east at 5 to 10 knots, and the sea state will be slight with wave heights ranging between one to three feet. Temperatures inland are forecast to reach a high of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, while coastal areas can expect a maximum of 89 degrees. The hills will be cooler, with temperatures near 82 degrees during the day. Tonight, temperatures are expected to fall to 75 degrees inland, 83 along the coast, and 68 in the hills.
Looking ahead, forecasters expect generally fair weather to continue on Monday. However, the approach of a tropical wave late Monday night is likely to bring an increase in showers and thunderstorms across the country. The Tropical Weather Outlook confirms that tropical cyclone formation is not expected over the North Atlantic Basin within the next 48 hours.
Forecaster Francisca Wellington issued this morning’s update and advised the public to continue monitoring weather reports as conditions evolve early next week.
