Police investigate sudden death of toddler in Georgetown Village, Stann Creek

By Belize Live News Staff: A family in Georgetown Village, Staan Creek District is heartbroken after their 16-month-old baby girl passed away suddenly on Wednesday. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

According to a police report, the mother left for work around 5:00 a.m., leaving her daughter in the care of a neighbor. The tragic discovery was made when the mother returned home at approximately 4:00 p.m. and found her baby unresponsive. She immediately sought help.

The neighbor reportedly told police that she had fed the toddler rice and chocolate milk around 1:30 p.m. before putting her down for a nap. The neighbor claims she found the baby lying in vomit and unresponsive two hours later.

Police are now awaiting a post-mortem examination to officially determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not ruled out any possibilities.
