Isolated showers expected as moisture levels drop across Belize

Fair skies and light showers expected today; Hurricane Melissa no threat to Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: Weather conditions are gradually becoming less moist and unstable across Belize, according to the National Meteorological Service. Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with brief cloudy periods. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to be isolated throughout the day, although there remains a medium chance of a few more showers developing late tonight, particularly over coastal and southern regions.

Marine conditions reflect moderate easterly to northeasterly winds blowing at 10 to 20 knots. The sea state remains choppy, and wave heights are estimated at 3 to 5 feet. Daytime temperatures are expected to peak around 93°F inland, 87°F along the coast, and a cooler 79°F in the hills. Nighttime lows will dip to 75°F inland, 80°F along the coast, and 68°F in higher elevations.

Looking ahead, the general outlook for Wednesday suggests cloudier skies with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms early, especially along the coast. These are expected to spread across the country during the afternoon before gradually decreasing by nightfall, except in the south where showers may persist.

The tide will peak this morning at 7:40 AM and again tonight at 9:43 PM. A low tide is expected at 3:32 PM. Tomorrow’s early low tide will occur at 2:05 AM. Sunrise today was at 5:24 AM, with sunset expected at 6:31 PM. Moonrise will occur at 5:00 PM, followed by a moonset at 4:05 AM tomorrow.

Forecaster Tareek Matthews reports no tropical cyclone activity is expected in the North Atlantic Basin over the next 48 hours.
