By Belize Live News Staff: Securing more cruise business for Belizean companies was the focus of the Belize Tourism Board’s trip to Puerto Rico this week.
At the FCCA Cruise Conference in San Juan, Belizean tour operators had the chance to sit down directly with cruise line decision makers and make the case for their products.
Direct contracts with cruise lines can provide steady income for local operators and the many Belizeans who depend on them, including guides, drivers, vendors and attraction workers.
The conference is one of the largest cruise tourism events in the region and also gave the delegation an opportunity to learn from counterparts in other Caribbean destinations.
The BTB says it remains committed to supporting local operators and keeping Belize competitive as a cruise destination.
The trip comes as the tourism industry prepares for the high season after softer arrivals earlier in the year.
