Check your meter: BWS alerts customers to theft

By Belize Live News Staff: Before you turn on the tap, it might be worth taking a look outside.

Belize Water Services says it has seen a rise in incidents of water meters being removed from residential properties without permission. A missing meter can leave households without water and lead to costly repairs.

The utility is asking customers to keep an eye on their meters and report anything unusual, including damaged meters, disturbed ground around the installation or strangers interfering with the equipment.

Residents are also encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood.

If your meter is missing or damaged, call BWS at 222 4757 or 614 2975.

BWS says it has alerted the authorities and will pursue legal action where necessary. The company thanked customers for their cooperation and said it remains committed to safe and reliable service.
