Family drama over a ruda plant ends with police report in Orange Walk

By Belize Live News Staff: A San Jose Palmar man says his missing ruda plant came back only after he threatened to call the police.

The 37 year old merchandiser reported to Orange Walk police that the $35 herbal plant disappeared from its red container on Friday night.

He told police he suspected his brother in law, whom he has known for about 10 years, because the relative had once stolen his bicycle before apologizing and offering to pay $50 for it.

The man says the relative denied taking the plant but returned with it about an hour later, appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

He has requested court action, and police are seeking the relative.
