By Belize Live News Staff: San Ignacio is getting ready for another major season of basketball as 42 teams prepare to compete in the 21st annual San Ignacio and Santa Elena Basketball Association tournament.
The competition will be held at the Victor Galvez Stadium in San Ignacio Town and will feature teams across 15 different divisions.
The tournament includes Junior Females, Under 8, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, Under 17, Under 19, Under 21, Amateur, Seniors, Females, Over 45 and Inter Office competition. The Inter Office category has eight teams, making it the largest division listed for this year’s tournament.
Opening weekend begins on Friday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m. with Tolacca/Yute Expeditions facing Elite in the Under 8 division.
Saturday’s action begins at 6:30 p.m. when Loyal American Clothing/Joseph Freight takes on Elite in the Under 15 division.
Other Saturday matchups include Flores against Young Veterans, JDB/Electrolit against Panda Online/RGM Trading, KW Warriors against Black Rose and Falcons against Hawks.
With dozens of teams and players taking part, the tournament will bring several divisions of competitive basketball to San Ignacio throughout the season.
