By Belize Live News Staff: Police K9 Axel helped uncover a quantity of suspected cannabis during a search of an empty lot in Orange Walk on Wednesday morning.
According to police information, Quick Response Team personnel and the K9 Unit searched an empty lot adjacent to what police described as a known drug base at around 8:45 a.m.
During the operation, K9 Axel reportedly located a transparent bag containing green leafy substance suspected to be cannabis.
Police retrieved the bag, but no one was found in the immediate area.
The suspected cannabis was taken to the Orange Walk Police Station and weighed.
Police say the substance amounted to 42.1 grams.
The suspected cannabis was then placed inside a manila envelope, sealed with evidence tape and handed over to the exhibit keeper as found property.
No arrests were reported in connection with the discovery.
