By Belize Live News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño is set to deliver his 2026 State of the Nation Address, giving Belizeans an opportunity to hear the Government’s assessment of where the country stands and where it is heading.
The address is scheduled to be broadcast nationally, with Belizeans likely listening closely for what the Prime Minister has to say about some of the major issues currently affecting the country.
Among the biggest concerns are the cost of living, fuel and electricity prices, jobs, wages, healthcare, crime and the overall performance of the economy.
Belizeans may also be looking for updates on infrastructure, education, tourism, agriculture, public transportation and Government’s plans for continued economic growth.
National security and the Belize Guatemala territorial dispute could also feature prominently, particularly following the recent confrontation in the Sarstoon.
For many families, however, the most important question may be simple: Is life getting better?
Economic growth figures and major investments matter, but households are also measuring the state of the nation by what they pay at the grocery store, gas station and on monthly utility bills.
The State of the Nation Address provides the Prime Minister with an opportunity to outline his administration’s accomplishments, acknowledge the challenges that remain and explain what Government intends to do next.
