By Belize Live News Staff: Officers on foot patrol through San Jose Village on Sunday night watched a man walk out of a house they knew well.
Police say the street was clear and there was nothing between them and him.
They stopped him and told him a search would be conducted for illegal drugs.
In his back left pocket were two small black transparent bags marked with gold skulls, holding a white powdery substance.
He was shown what was found, cautioned and taken to the Orange Walk Police Station.
The contents weighed 0.62 grams of suspected cocaine. It was sealed in a labelled envelope in front of him and he signed off on it.
Ronel Zamir Patt, 21, a labourer of San Jose Village, was charged with possession of controlled drugs that same night.
He chose to remain silent.
Packaging like that is worth noting. Branded bags point to something more organised than a personal stash.
