By Belize Live News Staff: A 27 year old woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a pickup on Sunday evening with her five year old on her lap.
They were driving into San Lazaro Village around 5:30pm. Her common law partner was at the wheel.
She saw a man on the right side of the road holding a white metal pipe, about three feet long, in both hands.
Then he stepped toward the vehicle and swung it at the windshield.
She told police everything happened so fast that all she could do was shut her eyes and hug her son. She heard the bang. She felt the glass come across her body, and across his.
They drove another 15 metres before stopping. Her partner got out to look for the man. He was already gone.
She had never seen him before in her life.
A doctor certified her injuries as harm. Guadalupe Garcia, 40, a construction worker of San Lazaro Village, has now been charged with harm on top of the damage to property charge laid earlier.
He chose to remain silent.
A woman and a five year old, hit with glass for no reason anyone can explain.
