Three bounced cheques leave supermarket $3,400 short

By Belize Live News Staff: A Belize City supermarket has reported losing $3,400 after three cheques presented by a customer were later returned unpaid.

Police say the cheques were used during three separate visits to Public’s Supermarket Northside Branch in August.

The customer reportedly purchased goods and received the balance of each cheque in cash.

Weeks later, management learned that all three Atlantic Bank cheques had bounced.

The combined loss was reported as $3,400.

A supervisor subsequently visited police and provided copies of the cheques and store receipts.

One person is being sought in connection with the report.

The matter remains under investigation.
