By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating the theft of more than $5,700 from a work truck parked on Newtown Barracks Road in Belize City.
A 29-year-old sales representative and driver reported that he parked a white Zambo’s work truck inside Sarita’s parking lot around 4:30pm on Thursday, September 3.
When he returned around 8:15am the following morning, he noticed that the driver’s side window had been broken and the door was open.
Checks inside the vehicle revealed that a black iron safe left behind the driver’s seat had been damaged.
The safe had contained $5,750.24 in cash in various denominations, but the money was missing.
Police were called to the scene shortly after and investigations are ongoing.
