By Belize Live News Staff: A 21 year old sales clerk was on shift upstairs at an Orange Walk store on Wednesday evening when a man walked up and touched him on the stomach.
He told him to stop. He does not play like that.
According to the police report, that is when it turned physical. The man grabbed him from behind, squeezed him tight, lifted him off his feet and dragged him toward the bodega.
The clerk struggled. The man called out to others nearby to look at him struggling. Alcohol was strong on his breath.
Then he let go, throwing the clerk into a stack of boxes of hangers. His back took the impact.
He got up and swung back. The two fought until someone nearby pulled them apart.
The man’s parting remark, according to the complainant, was that if they had not intervened he could have knocked him down.
A doctor at the Northern Regional Hospital certified the injuries as harm.
One man is wanted.
Nobody should have to deal with this at work.
