By Belize Live News Staff: Two men on a motorcycle at 2:40 in the morning, one of them holding two large television boxes. That is what caught the attention of officers on patrol along Liberty Avenue.
When the riders saw police, they took off. The siren went on and the chase was set.
About 50 feet in, the passenger threw the boxes onto the roadside. Shortly after, the motorcycle slipped. Both men ran off on foot, leaving the bike behind.
Officers recovered a black Lifan 150, a 40 inch CHIQ television and a 40 inch JVC television.
Then came the follow up. Checking nearby businesses, police found the back metal door of an electronics store on Belize Corozal Road closed but not locked.
The owner came down and found the damage. Ten 50 inch smart televisions gone. Three motorcycles gone, including the one police had just recovered. Wall mounts and two more televisions gone.
Total value, $18,795.
Benito Obilio Torres, 28, has been charged with burglary. A 24 year old of Carmelita Village was also detained.
Cameras in the area were viewed and useful information obtained.
