Cemetery search turns up drugs and a loaded magazine

By Belize Live News Staff: Police searching between tombs at the Piemonte Cemetery in Orange Walk Town found more than a kilogram of suspected cannabis on Friday afternoon.

Officers from the Special Branch and the Crime Investigation Branch went in around 4:50pm acting on information received.

Tucked between the tombs they found a parcel wrapped in transparent plastic holding a green leafy substance, a ziplock bag of white powder, and a black 9mm magazine loaded with eight live rounds.

Nobody was around.

Weighed at the station, the suspected cannabis came to 1,035 grams and the suspected cocaine to 7 grams.

Everything was sealed, labelled and deposited as found property, which means no one has been charged.

Cemeteries make convenient stash spots for exactly this reason. Quiet, open access, and plenty of places to leave something and come back for it later.

Whoever left it there has lost it now.
