By Belize Live News Staff: A weak tropical wave is passing over Belize today, and the south is feeling most of it.
The National Meteorological Service says a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue over southern and offshore areas this morning, then redevelop over the south again tonight. The rest of the country sees only isolated activity.
Otherwise it stays hot and mostly bright. Expect sunshine with some cloudy spells today and partly cloudy skies tonight. Inland highs reach 95 degrees Fahrenheit, the coast hits 89 and the hills stay cooler at 82.
Boaters should take care. Seas are choppy with waves of 3 to 5 feet and winds from the east to northeast at 10 to 20 knots.
The weekend starts wetter. Saturday brings cloudy skies with a few showers or thunderstorms over southern and central areas, easing off by afternoon.
Forecasters say no tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
