By Belize Live News Staff: Belize gets its sunshine back today, and the timing is poetic: just as the skies clear over the Jewel, the deep Atlantic starts filling up with weather that, mercifully, belongs to somebody else’s forecast.
The National Meteorological Service reports mainly fair conditions returning countrywide, sunny with some cloudy spells today, partly cloudy tonight, and the showers demoted to isolated status, with the coast collecting a few after dark. The two-day rain event is done, the yards are watered, and the August routine resumes.
So does the heat. Inland climbs back to 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before easing to 74 (23 Celsius), the coast reaches 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) with a low of 80 (27 Celsius), and the hills hold at 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius), cooling to 68 (20 Celsius). Wednesday’s cool discount has expired.
The sea offers fair passage, east to northeast winds at 10 to 15 knots, light chop to choppy, waves 2 to 5 feet, decent water for the runs that waited out the wave.
Now to the map that matters. The season has produced its next name: Tropical Depression Cristobal, sitting 610 miles west of the Azores as of 3:00 a.m., crawling northeast at 16 mph with 35 mph winds, and bound for the cold open Atlantic, no threat to Belize, no threat to anyone in this hemisphere’s warm half.
The one worth the daily glance is the other system, the tropical wave now about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles, organizing steadily and carrying a high chance of becoming a depression within a couple of days as it tracks westward. The key words stay the same, currently no threat to Belize, and it has an entire Caribbean to cross before that sentence could ever change. This page watches so you don’t have to worry.
Friday keeps the fair pattern rolling, isolated showers by day, the south taking a few extras at night, a fine setup for the weekend ahead.
