The Belize Police Department reports that the DFC area teen came home from work at about 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, to working lights that quit twenty minutes later. The diagnosis was immediate and familiar in shared yards everywhere: the connection runs through upstairs, and upstairs had plugged it out. His father sent him to the steps to reconnect.
That is where the knocking started. Looking up, according to his report, he found the upstairs resident rapping the wall with a silver blade about five inches long, delivering her ruling on the household account: they had not paid for the light, so no connection. When he answered that his parents had already paid, the alleged response came with the knife pointed at him: “if you connect the extension you wah see.”
The electrician made the professional call, de-energize and escalate. He went to his room, told his parents, and the police arrived shortly after, detaining the woman and escorting her to the San Pedro Police Station, where a 36-year-old domestic of the area now sits pending a charge of aggravated assault.
