By Belize Live News Staff: Two days, two forecasts, two deliveries in full. Belize’s weekend signs off with a Sunday built to match its Saturday, sunshine overhead, 95 inland, and the seas still open for business.
The National Meteorological Service reports mainly fair weather holding its ground, with sunny skies and a few cloudy spells today, partly cloudy tonight. The shower watch carries one small plot twist: after a week of the south working the night shift, it is the northern districts that may collect slightly more showers later today, isolated activity elsewhere, and nothing to reroute a Sunday plan.
The heat stays true to its August word. Inland communities bake at 95 degrees Fahrenheit (35 Celsius) before easing to 74 (23 Celsius) overnight. The coast reaches 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) with a warm low of 83 (28 Celsius), while the hills keep their comfortable perch at 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius), cooling to 68 (20 Celsius).
The water asks only modest respect, easterly winds of 10 to 15 knots, a light chop building to choppy in spots, and waves of 2 to 5 feet, fine conditions for the last cayes runs and river swims of the weekend, with the smaller boats minding the bouncier patches.
The tropics stay on their remarkable August streak of silence, no cyclone formation expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours, and every quiet Sunday this deep in the season counts double.
Monday eases the country back to work under mainly fair skies with isolated showers, saving its dampness for the night, when a few showers and thunderstorms may develop along the coast and some southern areas, the gentlest possible start to the week.
So spend the daylight well, Belize. The grill, the river, the hammock, the sea, the weekend has one more golden afternoon to give, and it is asking nothing in return.
