July winds down bright and hot across Belize

By Belize Live News Staff:The umbrellas earned their midweek moment, and now the sunshine reclaims the stage. Belize heads into the final days of July under bright skies, with the passing tropical wave already a memory and the heat settling back into its familiar groove.

The National Meteorological Service reports a moderate and relatively moist easterly airflow over the country, delivering sunny skies with a few cloudy spells today and partly cloudy conditions tonight. Any showers or thunderstorms will be isolated.

The thermometer tells the story of the clearing. Inland areas climb back to 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before easing to 74 (23 Celsius) overnight. The coast reaches 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) with a warm low of 82 (28 Celsius), while the hills top out at 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and cool to a comfortable 68 (20 Celsius). The water bottle and the shade break remain the wise companions for anyone working under the afternoon sun.

Boaters get the day’s one caution, with easterly winds of 10 to 20 knots, choppy seas, and waves running 3 to 5 feet, manageable conditions, but worth respecting on the smaller craft.

The tropics continue their generous streak, with no cyclone formation expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours, quiet skies deep into the heart of the season.

Friday closes the month with a small flourish, partly cloudy skies turning cloudy at times, a few morning showers or isolated thunderstorms along the coast and over the south, then clearing by afternoon, setting up the transition into August.

As for the tides, today’s highs fall at 10:09 AM and 11:18 PM, with lows at 5:23 PM and 4:40 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:31 AM and sets this evening at 6:26 PM. This forecast was prepared by forecaster Catherine Cumberbatch.
