By Belize Live News Staff: Consider this the friendly warning: the sunshine has one more full day on the schedule. Belize’s gorgeous stretch of weather holds through tonight and tomorrow, but the weekend brings the turn, with showers spreading across most of the country on Saturday.
The National Meteorological Service’s evening forecast keeps the good times rolling for now, partly cloudy skies tonight, sunshine with a few cloudy spells tomorrow, and only isolated showers in between. Anyone with outdoor plans, yard work, or a beach day in mind should aim squarely at Friday.
Then the pattern shifts. Isolated showers and thunderstorms visit the south Friday night, the advance party for Saturday, when showers increase and spread to most areas, ending the fair spell that has defined the past week and more.
Tomorrow stays hot while it lasts. Inland areas reach 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before easing to 74 (23 Celsius). The coast tops out at 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) with a warm low of 82 (28 Celsius), while the hills peak at 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and cool to 68 (20 Celsius).
The sea stays gentle too, with easterly winds of 10 to 15 knots, a light chop, and waves of 2 to 4 feet, one more fine day for the boats before the weekend showers complicate things.
And far to the north, a familiar name takes its final bow. The remnants of Bertha, now inland about 40 miles from Houston, Texas, with winds down to 35 mph, have received their last advisory, the quiet end of a storm that spent its whole life as a US story and never once troubled Belizean waters. Nothing else is brewing in the region for the next 48 hours.
So there is the weekend math, Belize: Friday for the sunshine, Saturday for the indoor plans, and an umbrella back on standby after its week off.
