By Belize Live News Staff: The contrast could not be kinder to Belize. While Tropical Storm Bertha bears down on the Louisiana coastline nearly a thousand miles to the north, the Jewel wakes to another day of sunshine, gentle seas, and an evening made for being outdoors.
The National Meteorological Service reports a light to moderate easterly airflow holding the mainly fair and warm pattern in place. Expect sunny skies with a few cloudy spells today, clearing to partly cloudy tonight, with nothing more than isolated showers anywhere on the map.
Bertha’s latest position keeps the reassurance intact. At 6:00 a.m., the storm sat about 45 miles northeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River, crawling west at 5 mph with 50 mph winds, a system now on the doorstep of the US Gulf coast and a world away from Belizean waters. The Met Service confirms no tropical cyclone formation is expected elsewhere in the region over the next 48 hours.
At home, the heat does its dependable work. Inland areas will bake at 94 degrees Fahrenheit (34 Celsius) before easing to 73 (23 Celsius). The coast tops out at 89 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) with a warm low of 82 (28 Celsius), while the hills reach 82 degrees Fahrenheit (28 Celsius) and cool to a pleasant 67 (19 Celsius).
Boaters get another gentle day, with easterly winds of 10 to 15 knots, a light chop, and waves of 2 to 4 feet.
