By Belize Live News Staff: A day at work ended in an unwelcome surprise for an Orange Walk man, who came home to find his house ransacked and a string of valuables gone.
The Belize Police Department reports that a 26-year-old contractor of Orange Walk Town went to the Orange Walk Police Station to report the theft. According to him, he left for work on the morning of June 27, 2026, and returned in the evening, around 4:30 p.m., to find his home in disarray.
As he looked around, he reported that several household appliances had been damaged, including his refrigerator cable and internet modem. A closer check revealed that a number of items were missing entirely. The reported stolen goods included a MacBook Air, a twin tub washing machine, a laser level kit, an iPhone, and a pair of sneakers, together valued at more than $2,000.
The man told police he later managed to trace his missing phone to another area of the country and noticed activity on his online accounts.
After recording his statement, police confirmed that court action had been requested. Investigators have identified a person of interest they are looking to speak with, and the matter continues to be looked into.
