Fifteen-year-old student killed, another injured in Gardenia Village shooting

By Belize Live News Staff: A 15-year-old student of Ladyville Technical High School was fatally shot on Sunday night in Gardenia Village, while an 18-year-old man remains hospitalized with injuries.

According to initial reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. when two teenagers were standing on a street corner in the village.

Authorities say a gunman emerged from a dark area and opened fire, discharging multiple shots in the direction of the victims before fleeing the scene.

Fifteen-year-old Rackeem Armstrong sustained gunshot wounds to the head and right shoulder. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The second victim, identified as 18-year-old Justin Young, suffered a gunshot wound to the right buttock. He remains hospitalized in stable condition and is receiving medical treatment.

Police have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting and are seeking information that may assist in identifying the gunman and establishing a motive.

Investigations continue.
