By Belize Live News Staff: A 38-year-old man has been formally charged following a domestic violence incident involving his former partner and her teenage daughter.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred just after midnight on April 29 at a residence on Bishop Martin Street in Orange Walk Town. Police say the suspect, Rigoberto Novelo, allegedly entered a bedroom under the influence of alcohol and began verbally abusing a 15-year-old girl.
When the child’s mother intervened, she was reportedly punched in the face. Police say the suspect then pulled the teenager by her hair and assaulted both victims, causing injuries to different parts of their bodies.
The suspect fled the scene after the teenager called for police. Both victims were later medically examined, and their injuries were classified as harm.
Novelo has since been arrested and charged with two counts of harm.
