By Belize Live News Staff: Belizean students are set to benefit from new opportunities in agriculture following an announcement from Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha.
Speaking at the opening of the National Agriculture and Trade Show in Belmopan, Mustapha revealed that his government is offering 10 scholarships for Belizeans to study at the Guyana School of Agriculture.
The initiative forms part of a wider regional effort to strengthen the agriculture sector and build capacity among young people. The minister stressed that investing in education is key to transforming agriculture into a modern, profitable, and sustainable industry.
He also highlighted the importance of youth involvement, noting that the future of food security in the Caribbean depends heavily on training the next generation of farmers, innovators, and agri-entrepreneurs.
The scholarships are expected to further strengthen ties between Belize and Guyana while supporting the region’s long-term agriculture goals.
