Succession talk heats up as Belize City Mayor favors son-in-law

By Belize Live News Staff: Succession discussions are beginning to take shape in Belize City, as Mayor Bernard Wagner has openly expressed support for his son-in-law, Deputy Mayor Eluide Miller, to take over leadership.

In commenting on the issue, Wagner described Miller as one of the individuals closest to him in terms of experience and understanding of city operations. He pointed to Miller’s years of involvement in the council and his exposure to both grassroots and business-level engagements.

Wagner noted that Miller has grown into the role over time, learning the responsibilities of governance and public service firsthand.

Despite his endorsement, Wagner made it clear that the decision remains in the hands of the party and its convention process.
