Student facing prosecution after crashing into Police officer

By Belize Live News Staff: Authorities are investigating a road traffic accident in the Corozal District that left a police corporal injured and a student facing potential prosecution.

A police officer was traveling from San Pablo Village toward Douglas Junction this morning when a black 2019 Chevrolet Cruze suddenly turned across the motorcycle’s path. The driver of the car, identified as 18-year-old student Einor Arcurio, told investigators he was attempting a U-turn and did not observe the motorcycle approaching from behind.

The impact caused significant damage to the front of the motorcycle and the left side of the car. Scenes of Crime personnel and a Justice of the Peace were present to process the site and document the wreckage.

Medical professionals treated the officer for knee and back injuries along with several abrasions. Investigators confirmed that Arcurio admitted to the error that caused the crash. While the student expressed a desire to settle the damages privately through insurance, police have officially served him with a Notice of Intended Prosecution.
