By Belize Live News Staff: The community of Trial Farm is mourning the loss of a local figure, 75-year-old Dora Maria Munoz, who was found deceased at her place of business on Tuesday morning.
According to police reports, officers on mobile patrol were flagged down by a relative of the deceased around 10:45 a.m. Munoz was found unresponsive inside “Dora’s Shop,” located in a cement structure on Mahogany Street. Family members indicated that she had been alert and responsive as late as 10:00 a.m. that morning.
The 75-year-old had been battling Stage 3 cancer for the past eight months and was receiving specialized treatment prior to her passing. Authorities confirmed that there were no signs of foul play at the scene.
Medical professionals at the Northern Regional Hospital officially certified the cause of death as acute respiratory failure resulting from epithelioid mesothelioma. A death certificate has been issued, and the matter has been processed as a sudden death due to natural causes.
