Belize vows to protect reputation after tour guide incident

Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s tourism authorities are taking a firm stance following a controversial social media comment made by a licensed tour guide.

In a statement, the Ministry of Tourism stressed that Belize is known for being a warm and welcoming country, and said the behavior seen in the incident does not represent how visitors are treated.

Officials underscored that all licensed tour guides have a responsibility to show respect and professionalism at all times, without exception.

The Tour Guide Committee is now expected to address the matter, with possible disciplinary measures on the table.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Belize’s reputation for friendliness and inclusivity, noting that the vast majority of tour guides continue to uphold these values every day.
