Two vehicles damaged in Orange Walk intersection crash

Driver detained after early morning crash leaves two hospitalized

Police are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Thursday evening at the intersection of Zericote and Tangerine Streets in Orange Walk Town.

When officers arrived at the scene, they observed a red 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt with dents and scratches to the front bumper. The vehicle was parked facing east and was being driven at the time by Aviana Ferguson, 32, a Belizean domestic of Partridge Street, Belize City.

About five feet ahead, police also observed a red 2016 Great Wall Wingle pickup with damage to the passenger-side front door. The pickup was parked facing north and was being driven by Shahira Lara, 36, a Belizean secretary of San Pedro Street, Orange Walk Town.

Initial investigations indicate that Ferguson was driving east along Zericote Street and failed to stop at the intersection with Tangerine Street, resulting in a collision with the pickup.

Police confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. Both drivers were escorted to the Orange Walk Police Station to make their reports.

All vehicle documents were found to be up to date.
