Former gang figure dies after medical emergency at sea

By Belize Live News Staff: Police have confirmed that 43-year-old Edwin Flowers, described as a former gang figure and PIV associate, died of natural causes over the weekend.

According to authorities, Flowers was on a boat near Blue Zen Resort off northern Caye Caulker when the vessel experienced mechanical issues.

Police reports indicate that Flowers went into distress and reportedly suffered two strokes, one on the boat and another after he was transported to the Split. He was later taken to a clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

ACP Hilberto Romero stated that no foul play is suspected at this time. He added that a post-mortem examination will be conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities also confirmed there was a slight fire on the engine of the vessel during the incident.

The matter remains under investigation pending the results of the post-mortem.
