By Belize Live News Staff: Residents of San Estevan Village in the Orange Walk District are set to benefit from improved access to potable water following the official handover of materials for a major water system expansion.
The initiative was carried out by the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, and Local Government, which delivered high-grade piping to extend the village’s water distribution network. The expansion aims to connect more households and strengthen the reliability of water services throughout the community.
Also included in the handover was a heavy-duty diesel generator, intended to provide backup power during outages and ensure uninterrupted water delivery.
Prime Minister John Briceño, who addressed the ceremony, emphasized that access to basic services such as water and electricity remains central to the government’s rural development strategy, noting that improved infrastructure directly enhances quality of life and community security.
