By Belize Live News Staff: Police are examining several angles, including possible drug activity, following a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two men in Punta Gorda Town on Saturday night.
Initial investigations suggest that the victims were among a group of individuals gathered at a Queen Street residence when a man arrived and requested drugs. Moments later, shots were fired, striking both victims.
Police have acknowledged that the area where the shooting occurred has previously been targeted during anti-drug operations, with narcotics and firearms recovered in the past.
Investigators have also confirmed that one of the deceased had previously been a person of interest in an unrelated missing-person investigation involving a Canadian national. However, police say there is no confirmation at this time that the cases are connected.
Authorities stress that the investigation remains ongoing, and they caution against speculation as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the double murder.
