By Belize Live News Staff: An early morning domestic report in Lords Bank Village escalated into a major police operation after gunshots were reportedly fired at a police mobile, prompting an attempted murder investigation.
Police say the incident happened on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, around 4:30 a.m., along Old Well Road as officers were transporting a woman to the Ladyville Police Station to make a formal report.
Officers later discovered bullet holes to the back of the police pickup, a white JAC mobile (LP CYB-3980), which sustained damage to the tailgate area and left rear portion.
Following the incident, an operation was conducted which led to the detention of Darnae Agise Omar Garcia, 29, an American national of Old Well Road, Ladyville Village.
Police say Garcia was found in possession of a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol (with no serial number), a magazine with 14 live rounds, and additional ammunition. An AR-15 rifle with serial number ST399249 along with a magazine containing 37 live rounds was also reportedly recovered.
In total, police say the ammunition recovered amounted to 74 rounds of 9mm along with additional rounds found during the operation. Scenes were processed as investigations continue.
