By Belize Live News Staff: San Pedro Town was the scene of a protest on Wednesday night after a Belizean high school teacher, Alex Jason Noralez, was convicted in connection with sexual assault allegations involving students.
Residents gathered in support of Noralez, expressing outrage at the outcome of the case and insisting that he is innocent. The demonstration was reportedly organized by his daughter, Vivian Noralez, who spoke publicly and defended her father’s character, stating that he has long been active in the community and involved in youth activities.
During the gathering, supporters were heard chanting “Justice for Alex” while calling for reforms to what they described as a flawed justice system. One protester said the situation was “rough” and claimed the country’s system “really needs to fix.”
The crowd maintained that the teacher has helped students for years and that the conviction does not reflect who he is. Vivian Noralez told reporters that the family is now focused on the appeal process and waiting to see the final outcome.
