Agriculture Ministry receives equipment to strengthen data management

By  Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries has received a donation of agricultural data management equipment aimed at strengthening national agricultural statistics and improving data-driven decision-making.

The donation was provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). It includes six motorcycles, two high-capacity desktop workstations, and one high-capacity field laptop computer.

According to the Ministry, the motorcycles will significantly improve the mobility of data collectors, allowing them to reach farming communities more efficiently, particularly in remote and rural areas. The computers will enhance the Ministry’s ability to analyze, process, and visualize agricultural data collected in the field.

The equipment will strengthen the capacity of the Ministry’s Policy and Planning Unit, supporting improved data collection, reporting, and evidence-based policy formulation across the agriculture sector.
