Pickup slams into cow on Philip Goldson Highway

By Belize Live News Staff: A roaming cow caused a traffic collision early Thursday morning along the Philip Goldson Highway, prompting police response in the Orange Walk District.

According to police, information was received shortly after 5:00 a.m. of a road traffic accident between the Tower Hill Bridge and the Santa Marta Junction. Investigations revealed that a pickup truck travelling in the direction of Carmelita Village collided with a cow that wandered onto the roadway.

The impact resulted in damage to the vehicle, but police say the driver was not injured. Authorities confirmed that the driver’s documents were all in order.

The owner of the cow was later identified and contacted. Police say the livestock owner accepted responsibility and agreed to compensate the motorist for the damages.

Police are once again reminding livestock owners of the importance of securing their animals, especially along major highways, to prevent accidents and potential loss of life.
