By Belize Live News Staff: Police in Orange Walk are investigating a major burglary reported early Saturday morning at Plett’s Electronics, located on Queen Victoria Avenue.
According to police, information was received around 2:50 a.m. of a burglary in progress at the business. Officers responded to the scene, where they observed the building’s alarm activated. An external inspection was conducted, but no suspects were seen in the immediate area.
Initial investigations revealed that the store’s manager received an alarm notification shortly before police were contacted. Surveillance footage reviewed on his mobile device reportedly showed two male individuals inside the building ransacking the store and disabling the camera system.
Upon arriving at the scene, police and the manager conducted checks inside the building and confirmed that several electronic devices and cash were missing. Police say the items stolen included multiple iPhones of various models, Samsung and Redmi cellular phones, as well as cash in different denominations, amounting to a total loss of over forty-five thousand dollars.
Crime scene personnel processed the area, where a hole measuring approximately one foot by one foot was found in the lower section of a rear wall. The matter remains under investigation.
